Google keep would not sync except manually pushing the sync button.
It said sync was turned off...It took me 2 hours to determine that sync was turned off in the toggle in the notification shade! This setting is no other place and when you go to Google's help for sync they don't tell you about it!
So to enable it: swipe down the notification shade, and tap the icon in the upper right corner. Make sure the sync toggle is turned on.
