Microsoft Office 2010 installation failure -"The installation of this package failed"

I had downloaded the microsoft office 2010 installation file X16-32250.exe, put it into the temp directory and executed it.  I received the error "The installation of this package failed".  I tried many of the fixes on the web, but none worked.  I then put the file onto a dvd and was successful in installing it off a dvd.
